We’re building a community where young Black women can breathe, thrive, and celebrate their magic together.
Who we are:
Black Girl Magic Canada is a space where young Black women are not just seen, they’re celebrated. We create community, connection, and care, helping women aged 15-30, especially English-speaking Black women in Quebec, thrive in all areas of life.
Founded by Shari Waldrich in 2024, Black Girl Magic Canada began with one question:
How can we create spaces where Black Women don’t have to carry every burden alone?
Since our first event, we have grown into a vibrant community offering programs all grounded in sisterhood, authenticity, and care.

Our History
Black Girl Magic Canada, founded by Shari Waldrich, whose life experiences and those of her daughter revealed the need for spaces where young black girls could be empowered, be seen, and supported.
Seeing the unique challenges faced by English Speaking Black women in Quebec, from systemic barriers to everyday pressures. A powerful question was asked: How can we create spaces where Black women don’t have to carry every burden alone? In May 2024, this vision was brought to life with the first Black Girl Magic Canada event, an evening filled with storytelling, sisterhood, and inspiration. Since then, the organization has been flourishing as a nonprofit that provides wellness programs, mentoring programs, professional development, and transformational community events
At our core, Black Girl Magic Canada rejects the myth that we black women must “do it all”. We believe in shared care, authentic connection, and the beauty of black women in all their diversity. We continue to build space for young black women that have opportunities to breathe, thrive, and be reminded of their magic together.
